Winter shut down

This photo was taken 2 years ago and we are lucky enough not to have had any snow yet but a fair bit of rain this week. It has only just starting feeling like winter though. Everything is closed down on the site and it is extremely peaceful most of the time. We have started a couple of projects for next year - some improvements to the bar and have already done quite a lot of maintenance and upkeep. The park might be shut but there is always work to do.

We are looking forward to hearing from you all in 2012 and hoping to see you here in France........Merry Christmas from Tracy and Pete

One of our theme nights this year was NEON BRIGHTS night. As you can see from the photos everyone joined in. We also celebrated a few birthdays on the same night with cake and sparkling wine. There were glowsticks and fluorescent colours everywhere and we finished the evening by letting chinese lanterns float off into the sky!

Sorry I haven't blogged for ages - it has been a crazy summer. Look out for some photos in the next few days. We have had some great live music, theme nights and of course a bouncy castle for the little (and big) ones! The weather has been changeable but everyone has used the pool regardless. It is the first time in 16 years I've seen hailstones in August!
Dizzy was a star this summer and managed to keep us going even when we were rushed off our feet. You never know what is going to happen each day. I hope everyone that came had a great holiday and I look forward to seeing all the photos......

Quiz Night

Quiz night last was a great for success - for the team of Bruce Almighty anyway. Well done. And surprisingly no one argued with the quiz master this week - maybe that's because everyone has learnt that it doesn't do any good!

Ruth & Paul

Ruth and Paul came back for a flying visit last week. Ruth worked 2 summers with us and Paul joined us for the second one, about 7 years ago. They came with Georgia, their daughter, Ruths parents, Pauls dad and partner and Nicki, Pauls sister. We didn't get a chance to put them to work for old times sake but it was lovely to see them again.

The wine tasting is continuing every week. Unfortunately I didn't win this week but I will keep trying. Sheila won this week and Thierry showed her how to slice the top off a champagne bottle with a sabre. Danny also had a go as it was his birthday - any excuse to open fizzy in our bar!!

Zoe (Dizzy) and Sam have finally arrived. They are with us for 5 weeks - hooray. It feels like summer is here so hopefully you will all come and see us soon, make sure Dizzy and Sam have some work to do in between the sunbathing and dancing on the bar........

They don't speak french..............

Wine Tasting

First wine tasting of the season went well. We tried 2 whites, 2 reds, a red blind tasting and then a sparkling from Saumur. A successful evening for everyone especially me as I won the blind wine tasting competition. The question is was it beginners luck? or have I started as I mean to go on?
Lots of holidaymakers arriving this weekend, so we are busy getting everything ready.
This saturday cocktails are at the ready. If you fancy getting into the holiday mood come and join us for a cocktails - anything goes.

Where's The Sun?

Ok, so we did need a bit of rain as the campsite was looking a bit brown and the grass was sparse, but it's July we need sun. Some brave holidaymakers have been in the pool this morning which has reached a temperature of about 25 degrees.

While we are waiting for the sun to come out - if you know anyone interested in buying a mobile home on our campsite we have 2 for sale. Check out the website or contact us for more details.

Also due to a couple of cancellations we still have a 2 bedroom mobile home vailable for rent from the 20th August for a week.

See you all at the wine tasting tomorrow, let's hope we can taste the sun in Thierrys wines?

Summer's here already.

A busy weekend so far, even with the rain! Last night we had visitors from The Dragon pub. Colin brought some mates to check out the Bar Oasis and we look forward to seeing them again on the golf course.
I am trying to plan this week but I can't believe it is the 17th of July already, the campsite is quiet but not for long, by Saturday all the mobile homes will be full!
Our entertainment programme starts this week. Thierry Berson, sommelier, is bringing a selection of French wines to the bar on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm for our first official wine tasting of the summer. Obviously we are wine tasting in the bar every night! Thierry has a shop in Doue la Fontaine which sells wines, whiskies and tea, plus all the accessories. He explains how to taste the wine, what to look for, how to smell, taste and get the best from your wine. If you listen carefully there is a chance to win a bottle if you can guess the correct wine and year at the end of the tasting.
